Video: CNN's Rick Sanchez takes a crack at debunking 'The Birthers'

Last night, while viewing the country music performances from the East Room of The White House on the Facebook live feed, there was a person who created an account under the fictional name of 'Birth Certificate', apparently with the purpose in mind of spamming the mostly positive comments posted by people (from all over the world by the way) enjoying the concert.

It was a wonderful concert too enjoyed by so many, except maybe for Birth Certificate.

Thanks for trying Rick Sanchez.

Video: CNN's Sanchez takes O'Reilly to task, O'Reilly appologizes?

From Think Progress:

SANCHEZ: Bill O’Reilly says he only saw it once. And since he only saw it once, well then, that must be the truth. It doesn’t matter what really happened, it doesn’t matter what the record shows. All that matters is what Bill thinks he saw.

Last night on The Factor, Bill O’Reilly announced he had a “rare correction” to make. O’Reilly said that a “snide, surly guy on CNN” (Rick Sanchez) corrected the record about CNN’s coverage. “I was wrong. My apologies to CNN,” O’Reilly said.

Tom Tancredo in spiked heels? Yuck! Thanks a lot Sanchez!

One sentence in one speech in eight years says Eric Boehlert of Media Matters, for Tom Tancredo that makes Sotomayer a racist, even though the context in which she was speaking is left out of the racist repetition.

After listening to Tancredo, he really represents the style, tenacity and repetition of the Republican Party that won a lot of elections and wielded held a great deal of power and control over the all branches of government.

Take a little something-something and repeat it with great passion over and over and over again, (especially, if there is no basis in truth, no facts to be found) until it becomes 'true' in the hearts and minds of many people.

They always loves them some nuance too. Where there is nuance there is a Republican attack line.

Senator Demint: The biggest tent of all is the tent of freedom

I keep thinking as I listen to these interviews with Republican leadership and/or surrogates, that these comments are coming from the guys who had control of of the Congress and the Presidency for most of the last eight years, and got us into the fix that we're in. That I am certainly not forgetting.

Funny stuff begins around 2:56

Demint says, 'The biggest tent of all is the tent of freedom.' Sanchez responds with what the hell does that mean?

Woa! CNN's Dr. Gupta for Surgeon General - Who'd of thunk that one?

Pretty imaginative choice me thinks. He'll probably make a great surgeon general.

He's a journalist for God's sake. That's a good thing right?

Obama Wants Journalist Gupta for Surgeon General

By Howard Kurtz
President-elect Barack Obama has offered the job of surgeon general to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the neurosurgeon and correspondent for CNN and CBS, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.

Gupta has told administration officials that he wants the job, and the final vetting process is under way. He has asked for a few days to figure out the financial and logistical details of moving his family from Atlanta to Washington but is expected to accept the offer.

When reached for comment today, Gupta did not deny the account but declined to comment.

CNN New Years Eve: Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper? Say what?

Oh my goodness.

This video clip is good on so many levels.

It is good to see a very human Anderson Cooper. Only Kathy Griffin could bring that out.

It is also hillarious at the end when Griffin addresses a heckler in a very HBO Comedy Special, and not so much typical CNN way.

Does this mean that she made to the 'A' list through this gig with Anderson, but now she's on her way to the 'D" list, or simply bumped down to the 'B' list?

Those lists always confuse me.

Nevermind.

Fareed Zakaria GPS: The Taj Mahal hotel had warning of a possible attack

Could this have been prevented? Not without cooperation (trust) between the governments of Pakistan and India.
The Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai, India, temporarily increased security after being warned of a possible terrorist attack, the chairman of the company that owns the hotel said Saturday.

But Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata said those measures, which were eased shortly before this week's terror attacks, could not have prevented gunmen from entering the hotel.

"If I look at what we had ... it could not have stopped what took place," Tata said in an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria that will air Sunday.

"It's ironic that we did have such a warning, and we did have some measures," Tata said, without elaborating on the warning or when security measures were enacted. "People couldn't park their cars in the portico, where you had to go through a metal detector."

However, Tata said the attackers did not enter through the entrance that has a metal detector. Instead, they came in a back entrance, he said.

"They knew what they were doing, and they did not go through the front. All of our arrangements are in the front," he said.

"They planned everything," he said of the attackers. "I believe the first thing they did, they shot a sniffer dog and his handler. They went through the kitchen."

The 105-year-old hotel was one of nine sites attacked by gunmen in a 60-hour wave of terror that killed at least 183 people and injured hundreds more before it ended in a standoff at the hotel Saturday morning. read more here

Rick Sanchez named media outlets that pushed the Ashley Todd story

The Huffington Post - On CNN today, anchor Rick Sanchez did just that, naming the outlets that not only reported but actively pushed the story of Ashley Todd. In addition to explaining why his station didn't report the story, Sanchez dug the knife in a bit deeper when it came to Hugh Hewitt, the conservative radio talk show host who appeared on CNN Thursday and blamed "that side" (i.e. the Democrats) for engaging in "extraordinarily" disturbing acts.

"Part of the story is the fact that it was reported by the media," said Sanchez. "We would not be telling the story now had it not been carried by so many outlets. As I mentioned before, it was mentioned on, as a matter of fact I have a list and not to mention names, but the initials of the news organizations are Fox News, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Newsday. And also radio talk show hosts went on their radio stations and talked ad infinitum about the story yesterday, one of them even seemingly being a braggadocio about it when he was on the air with our own Wolf Blitzer yesterday."

CNN factchecks Sarah Palin's outrageous statement - 'palling around with terrorists'

CNN's factcheck of Sarah Palin's flippant claim that Barack Obama has been 'palling around with terrorists, as follows:

Verdict: False. There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now "palling around," or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are.
