Dreams, they say, sometimes become reality. For one Godwin Kemboi, Hillary Clintons visit rekindled fond memories. This is the man who had proposed to have hand of the Clintons daughter, Chelsea, in marriage. But will Chelsea say I do? Well, Hillary was asked that question today.

Banking For The Poor: Microfinance working in Kenya
I am in the process of reading a book by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Banking For The Poor: Microfinance working in Kenya, who shared is Nobel prize honor with the bank he founded for the poor in Bangladesh, Grameen Bank. It's another book that has been out awhile, but I'm a slow reader and a late bloomer.
The book I am reading by Yunus is entitled, 'Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism'.
'Banker to the Poor: Micro-Lending and the Battle Against World Poverty' was Yunus first book.
That is why this video clip on the effects of microfinance in Kenya is not only interesting, but extremely encouraging.
In addition, President Obama's mother was involved with micro-lending as a tool to alleviate poverty in the world.
...Senator Hillary Clinton, in the confirmation hearings for her nomination as U.S. Secretary of State, mentioned the virtues of microfinance during her opening remarks, praising the work of Ann Dunham, Barrack Obama’s late mother, as a pioneer of microfinance in Indonesia.
Clinton said, “In my own work on microfinance around the world - from Bangladesh to Chile to Vietnam to South Africa and many other countries - I’ve seen first-hand how small loans given to poor women to start small businesses can raise standards of living and transform local economies.”
According to her, “President Obama’s mother had planned to attend a microfinance forum at the Beijing women’s conference in 1995 that I participated in. Unfortunately, she was very ill and couldn’t travel and sadly passed away a few months later. But I think it’s fair to say that her work in international development, the care and concern she showed for women and for poor people around the world, mattered greatly to her son, and certainly has informed his views and his vision. We will be honored to carry on Ann Dunham’s work on microfinance and poverty alleviation in the months and years ahead.” source: BusinessWorldNG.com

A request of 'the most Godless woman in the Senate'
Right-Wing Radio talk show talker, Michael Savage is banned from entering Great Britain, the reasons of which you can read about here.
The outraged Mr. Savage is now asking the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to help him out. Here is some of Mr. Savage's comments/opinions expressed regarding Secretary Clinton.
Now for the question. If you were Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, how would you respond to this request?– “Hillary Clinton, the most Godless woman in the Senate.”
– Regarding one of Clinton’s speeches: “That’s rubbish. That’s Hitler dialogue. Goebbels would be proud of you, Hillary Clinton. I know Mao Zedong would have been proud of you.”
– “[Clinton has] destroyed the war effort against terror. And if, God forbid, a suitcase bomb goes off you’ll know who to blame.”
– On Clinton’s run for the presidency: “[She would] stir up a race war, a civil war in the country to get that hag, that harridan elected.”
Savage also once suggested that Clinton had something to do with the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. so she could run for U.S. Senate in New York. source: Crooks and Liars
I suspect that the Secretary will make the call. I doubt that I could be that Christian.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton defends reproductive rights and family planning
She is pretty amazing. I didn't vote for her during the primaries, but she keeps impressing me more and more each and every day. She also validates my confidence in the decision making of President Barack Obama. He done good on this one.

torture on trial, we will be hit again friends, I don't consider him a particularly reliable source, essentially now the U.S. is gonna go soft, we need both hands untied, because we won we can do it?, amateurish, wrongheaded, very, very dangerous, other than water boarding what was done to these prisoners, I'm an American and I don't want my government torturing on my behalf,
Go Secretary of State Clinton!
Mike Pence is from Indiana. I'm from Indiana. Everybody in Indiana does not think like Mike Pence.
Oh yeah. The election last year kind of demonstrated that fact.
A grahical representation.

One of my favorites was nixon and ceausescu
The two men genuinely liked each other. The were photographed together often. ceausescu used his friendship with tricky dick to build up his street cred as an independent from moscow commie and to keep the focus of the world on his international relations stances while his bloodthirsty and dictatorial domestic policies went unexamined by the world.

President Obama needs to take a trip to King County, Texas where 8 people voted for him
John McCain walked away with 93.2% to Barack Obama's 4.9% of the vote in King County, Texas. I think it would be a real hoot if President Obama made a stop one of these days to visit the folks in King County, Texas.
King County has more voters registered as Democrats, but still a landslide voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin. Some of the residents said it was a matter of trust and the McCain-Palin ticket was deemed to be more trustworthy.
Maybe the 8 people who actually voted for him would come out of the closet if he paid them a visit.

Torture: "How Bush Threatened Britain " - an Obama Administration Test
Andrew Sullivan writes at The Daily Dish,
That is a threat to hurt the security of a very close ally unless the British government intervenes into a court process to suppress evidence of US torture. In a critical test of the Obama administration, the demand that such evidence be suppressed was reiterated. (I don't know by whom. Panetta isn't in place yet. Brennan? Clinton?) And that's how illegal torture spreads throughout a legal and military system to undermine alliances as well as the rule of law. The poison of Cheney is still in the system. And it will be for a long time. That was the point: the crimes and blunders they committed were such that their successors find themselves, willy nilly, implicated in them.

Military Report 'JOE 2008' cites Mexico as one of two states that may suddenly collapse
This report was published in November 2008. President-elect Barack Obama recently met with President Felipe Calderón of Mexico who offered the President-elect advice on improving America's image in the world.
Meetings between incoming U.S. Presidents and the Mexican Presidents prior to inauguration have become standard in recent years.
EL PASO - Mexico is one of two countries that "bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse," according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats.
The command's "Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)" report, which contains projections of global threats and potential next wars, puts Pakistan on the same level as Mexico. "In terms of worse-case scenarios for the Joint Force and indeed the world, two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico.
"The Mexican possibility may seem less likely, but the government, its politicians, police and judicial infrastructure are all under sustained assault and press by criminal gangs and drug cartels. How that internal conflict turns out over the next several years will have a major impact on the stability of the Mexican state. Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone."
The U.S. Joint Forces Command, based in Norfolk, Va., is one of the Defense Departments combat commands that includes members of the different military service branches, active and reserves, as well as civilian and contract employees. One of its key roles is to help transform the U.S. military's capabilities.

The President-elect and Calderon also discussed the North American Free Trade Agreement, with Obama's emphasis being on the rights of labor and environmental issues. Calderon acknowledged the issues of gangs and drugs and pointed out the efforts he was undertaking regarding these issues.Calderón has deployed tens of thousands of Mexican soldiers and federal police to fight drug cartels. The United States must do its part, Calderón said, by limiting arms trafficking and reducing drug consumption. "We are working hard on the supply side," he said. "Working on the demand side is critical." source: The Washington Post
This is yet another issue that the Obama Administration will be dealing with, but the up side is that we can have confidence that the new grown ups in The White House will actually be dealing with it.
Hillary Clinton and plans that she has set forth with respect to Department of State, and the other institutions within the government that are supporting reinvigorating and blowing the dust off of the State Department, are also a good sign for hope that the foreboding in the above report may be averted with good leadership, planning and execution.
Rachel Maddow had an informative, interesting and hope inspiring segment on what can, should and will happen (fingers crossed and double-knotted here) with Hillary Clinton's State Department.I'm going with 'not to worry (too much)' on this one. There is cause for optimism rather than pessimism due to the incoming Administration and the supporting cast of characters.

The Morning After: David Axlerod describes Barack Obama's response to his team after losing the Ohio and Texas contests
Axelrod told the group how Obama responded the morning after losing the Ohio and Texas primaries:
"The next day, Sen. Obama showed up at campaign headquarters and he went around to every desk -- and there were a lot of young volunteers. He told them they were doing a great job, and don't be discouraged," Axelrod said.
Then Obama went into a meeting with the senior staff and he told them, "I can think of a dozen things I could have done better in the past few weeks and I'm sure you could all think of a dozen things you could have done better." Axelrod called it "a very productive discussion."
"As he got up to leave, he stopped and turned around and said, 'I want you to know, I'm not yelling at you,'" Axelrod said. "Then he went a few more paces, and he turned again and said to us, 'After blowing $20 million in two weeks, I could yell at you. But I'm not yelling at you.'" That mild-mannered admonishment was more effective than yelling would have been, Axelrod said. source: Real Clear Politics

Clinton expected to be confirmed as Secretary of State prior to inauguration day on January 20th
Donor disclosures to said foundation are expected to be forthcoming on an annual basis.
Clinton is expected to testify before the Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday, with a committee vote two days later, before the start of a separate confirmation hearing for Susan Rice, President-elect Barack Obama's pick for U.N. ambassador. If approved by the panel, Clinton could be confirmed by the full Senate before Obama takes office on Jan. 20.
In advance of the hearing, Clinton has been reaching out to individual senators through telephone calls and lengthy sit-down meetings, including an hour-long meeting last month with Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, the top Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee.
On Wednesday, Clinton attended the Democrats' weekly policy lunch at the Capitol. She declined to talk with reporters afterward.
