There's more problems with coal than simply making it 'clean'

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a good, yet heartbreaking editorial in The Washington Post on the continuing irresponsible exploitation of a national treasure. I hope that President Obama is reading the papers thoroughly this morning.

Here's a snip:

The coal industry's promise to restore the desolate wastelands is a cruel joke, and the industry's fallback position, that the flattened landscapes will provide space for economic development, is the weak punchline. America adores its Adirondacks and reveres the Rockies, while the Appalachian Mountains -- with their impoverished and alienated population -- are dismantled by coal moguls who dominate state politics and have little to prevent them from blasting the physical landscape to smithereens.

People from Western Kentucky are mighty cute! Go Kentucky!

I know if I were to meet some of these folks, I would just love them. I hope they are able to 'Ditch Mitch', in Kentucky, because we here in Indiana aren't feeling too hopefully about ditching our Governor Mitch Daniels.

If you are from Indiana, make sure you vote for Jill Long-Thompson for Governor, and tell other Hoosiers to vote for Jill too!

Plenty of folks were outside the convention center to greet Mitch (snark), but they never got a glimpse of Mitch. Some say he slipped in the back door and others say he waited in a local gasoline station until the protestors left before he went into the Convention Center. Hell who knows, but I do know this Bruce Lunsford walked in the front door of the Convention Center like a man on a mission. Bruce didn’t dodge anyone.

It was a real sight to behold. Right there in Western Kentucky Mitch McConnell’s stronghold and folks were chanting Ditch Mitch and 24 years is enough. I suggest to you these folks are the real patriots and I’ll bet the ones there that served in the military would be more than happy to show you their military honorable discharge papers. How about that Mitch?

When will you show us yours?
