Free Speech and Blasts from the Pasts: Frank Zappa on Crossfire - March 1986

Crossfire - March 03, 1986

Tom Braden, Robert Novak, John Lofton, Frank Zappa

It's really ironic that a whole generation of children have now grown up on the Internet, known about and seen more things than I could have imagined as a child while in 1986, these people were arguing about lyrics in a song by Prince.

Kids have access to questionable lyrics and so much more if they have access to the Internet. If they aren't exposed or educated on such things then they are ill equipped to deal with the real world, unless they are able to be kept sheletered from the world for the remainder of their lives.

We could be arguing free speech, the responsibilities of a free press, and the outting of a CIA agent with respect to Robert Novak.

Zappa is dead and Novak currently has a brain tumor.

Time really does change things. The argument still goes on about free speech though.

There is a debate regarding kids having hope. What are you ideas about how to give kids hope?

Zappa says he tells kids (these days which are now those days) to register to vote and to run for something. He was belittled for that statement.

Kids don't know the meaning of life and you tell them to vote Mr. Zappa?
