Video: Maddow Debunks Buchanan

I commented on the Maddow/Buchanan 'heated discussion' in an earlier post saying that I hope Pat Buchanan keeps talking. I hear the cries from the Left to have Buchanan permanently removed from MSNBC, but I think this thinking is wrong, because many of our fellow citizens agree with Buchanan and subscribe to his views.

And then, there are those among us who struggle with the validity of these viewpoints, get lost and tangled, mired even in the emotional content and are unable to ascertain truth from fiction. Worse yet, we assume were given facts when we were actually fed a large dose of distortion, or pure fiction.

I have counted myself in that group in the past. I have wanted to know and understand what the facts are, but because of limited brain power, time, energy, as well as other priorities, television news analysis was where I went to distill the facts for me, and what I came away with for the most part in the past was a deepening confusion. There are still people out there who look to this analysis in order to draw conclusions and decide where they stand, and I suspect that there always will be.

These views cannot be challenged unless they are aired. It is the way we challenge opposing viewpoints in the public forum that has concerned me in the past. I believe Jon Stewart has also been disturbed and disgruntled about this too. Oh and yeah, that guy... um if I remember his name correctly. What was it? Oh yeah. Barack Obama!

Rachel Maddow does an efficient and effective job of debunking Pat Buchanan's statements without attacking the man himself. Rachel's style and presentation of fact is reasoned and reasonable, and although she may not be everyone's cup of tea, she is an important and valuable voice in the conversation.

Pat Buchanan and others should be afforded time to keep talking on MSNBC, and any other news source in my opinion. The focus of the opposing viewpoint should always be on finding and developing people with the ability to take on those opposing viewpoints with facts, um, kind of just like Rachel Maddow does in this video.

Just my opinion. That's all I got.

Michelle Bachman's 'Joseph McCarthy' like comments on Hardball, Editor of 'The Nation', and Elwyn Tinklenberg vying to unseat Bachman

This woman is talking 'Mcarthyism'
Penetrating expose`?
Do people really say stuff like that anymore?
Well that was a stupid question.

Ms. Bachman's seat is being challenged in November

Tinklenberg: UPDATE with fundraising numbers: $438,346.57Updated at 3:16 PM

UPDATE with fundraising numbers:

24 hours ago, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann announced that all those who disagree with her are "Anti-American." Since then, the outpouring of support for my campaign has been extraordinary. Since Congresswoman Bachmann's outrageous remarks, my campaign has raised $438,346.57, and we're working to reach $500,000 by 5 p.m. today. Congresswoman Bachmann's extreme ideology divides people, but her comments on MSNBC's Hardball have united all of those who believe that I will jump start the ecomomy on Main Street by creating jobs and rebuilding our infrastructure. As a Minister and Mayor, I brought people together. I believe that we build by addition, not division. I want to thank you all. It is now clear that we have the momentum to win and I ask for your financial support. I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you,

El Tinklenberg

The Evening Funnies: Reacting to Sarah Palin's Speech --Part Punditry Nauseously Supremo & Part Hillariousio

When did 44 become young?
It's not old exactly, but hell,
I'm 49 and I don't think I'm a young woman.

Now this is just downright hillarious!
What a way to earn a living.

A 'below average' American, a Peon in the heartland speaks her mind

I am just an average American. On many levels I am a 'below average' American. I keep watching these dingbats on msnbc analyzing the Democratic convention and the level of attack, or lack thereof by the Democrats.

When this is all said and done and the Democrats do have control, the ultimate goal is to unite the people of the United States. When I canvass and phone bank on behalf of the Campaign for Change of Barack Obama, I am talking to my neighbors, my friends, my community. We don't agree on everything, but I would like once this is over for all of us to be able to unite behind a President and I believe that President will be Barack Obama.

We can slice and dice the Republicans all we want. It seems to me when Democrats take the stance or tact of a 'Karl Rove' attack, it doesn't work for them either.

Pat Buchanan ran for President and never made it. Joe Scarborough was in Congress and he isn't any longer. Tell me again why we listen to these people so intently? They do from time to time have good and valuable information and opinions that are interesting to roll around in the mind. I don't think Democrats becoming more like Republicans at this time in our history is going to make this country great again, and united behind a common purpose.

Peace and Love,

Peon gets Grandmotherly: That Rachel Maddow... she's such a nice girl. Rachel leads the way on 'truthiness'.

THE HUFFINGTON POST

By Jason Linkins

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Lots of commenters last night were asking for clips of Rachel Maddow and Michael Smerconish hailing down a rain of ownage on Pat Buchanan, so why not indulge them? At issue was Dana Milbank's article in yesterday's Washington Post, that "reported" on Barack Obama's "presumptuousness." Maddow was invited to take the matter on, and she led with this statement, "This issue is weird when you look at the facts on which it is based." read more here Digg!
