To the back of the bus and beyyyyoooonnnndddd! (think Mr. Lightyear)

I am White. I have never been asked to go to the back of the bus. Granted, I drive a 72-passenger flat nose/pusher almost every day so I'm in control of things on the bus, but sheesh.

Mr. T can't answer the question but I will. For the record, I don't think President Obama hates White People. I don't think he hates people in general. I can't look into his heart or peer into his mind that's for sure, still I really doubt that he has all that much time and/or energy to spend hating people anyway.

I look at his kids and his wife. Nah. Not haters. They look like lovers to me.

Mr. Limbaugh says "this country is failing because President Obama is succeeding."

Just so you know, there is no hope. Well, at least that is what Mr. Limbaugh says as long as Barack Obama is the President.

I'm eternally grateful that I am not a follower of his.

Some thoughts from Ron Reagan on Mr. Limbaugh

I saw this quote from Ron Reagan on Daily Kos. Ron Reagan is one of the positive things that I attribute to his Dad, former President Ronald Reagan. May he rest in peace.

I may not have appreciated the Reagan presidency in terms of politics and policy, but his son is an entirely different story. I'm glad that Ron is on our side.

Bless his heart and thanks to
BarbinMD for bringing this to my/our/your attention.

Limbaugh hasn't had a natural erection since the Nixon Administration; think he's compensating for something? Now, I wouldn't pick on him for any of this stuff, not his blubbiness, not his man-boobs, not his inability to have a natural erection—none of that stuff—to me, off limits until! until! Mr. Limbaugh, you turn that sort of gun on somebody else—once you start doing that, you're fair game, fat boy. Absolutely, you jiggly pile of mess. You're just fair game, and you're going to get it, too.

Video: I just can't see Roberta McCain backpeddling on this statement

I can't see myself actually agreeing with John McCain's mother on very many things, but one thing I don't see her doing is apologizing to Rush Limbaugh for these statements and that is totally refreshing.

The Day in 100 Seconds

it's hump day, Mr. Right, listening tour, mocking a listening tour, not a listening tour, health care, false start, we gotta go back, alternative, stay off the stage, lowest rank, important committees, in due course, relax, make him happy, dog food, looks good, try a little bit, danger zone, all hands on deck, encourage the leaders, step up the fight, common cause, common threat, common task, common challenge, quintessential obama, obama doctrine, peace stability, all government effort, patience is bitter but it's fruit is sweet, complicated diplomatic dance, deliver, terrorism, democracy is the only cure, whatever it takes, the hope of sunshine, why be normal, keep hope goin'

Unfortunate Sense

Bob Herbert talks some unfortunate sense regarding the Grand Old Party. I'm actually rooting for the Republican party to return, minus the nah nah nuh boo boo politics.

It’s not a party; it’s a cult. I’m no fan of Arlen Specter, but if I were a Republican, I wouldn’t be shoving him out the door and waving good riddance. This is the party of Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Newt (“I’m trying to rise from the ashes”) Gingrich, and the dark force who can’t seem to exit the public stage or modify his medieval ways, Dick Cheney.

It is losing all credibility with the public because it is not offering anything — anything at all — that could be viewed as helpful or constructive in a time of national crisis. And it has been unwilling to take responsibility for its role in bringing that crisis about.

This is just downright funny to me...

It's probably not funny to me in the same way that it might be to fans of Mr. Limbaugh, but then it might not be funny to fans of the man either.

I think it is the squirming that makes it funny. It's what he is trying to not say, and what I imagine he probably wants to say that gives me the giggles.

Multi-tasking

Republicans and their talking heads are now saying that the Democrats are using distraction by pointing out the Rush Limbaugh appears now to be the head of the Republican party.

Perhaps. I haven't found it to be distracting myself though. Just a little bit tiring.

I've listened to the Rush to Rush stuff, AND been trying to pay attention to as much of the rest of the news of the day as I can, including but not limited to the President's budget. I've also been paying attention the fact that many of the President's nominations are being held up. Not good and not very nice either.

Yay me! I'm multi-tasking!

They did give ole Mr. Limbaugh a pretty big platform and great deal of time at their Conservative party, and one thing that is entirely certain is that Mr. Limbaugh does not hold back.

The platform that Mr. Limbaugh was given at CPAC, would be akin to Dems making Al Franken the keynote speaker at one of their get-togethers. The Republicans and Rush would have a field day with that.

Oh yeah. I forgot something. Al Franken is very likely going to be the Senator from the Great State of Minnesota. Franken actually ran for something after having been a comedian and a radio talk show host for Air America Radio, representing talk-left. The court fight is still ongoing in MN, but it's still looking like Franken is going to win the contest.

Maybe Mr. Limbaugh should run for something. Now that would be a hoot!

Jonathan Alter on Countdown

I listened to Howard Fineman's view of taking on Rush, who says not a smart idea. Alter and Fineman both made good points but Alter says that imprinting what Limbaugh said in people's minds is a good thing. Fineman not so much.

Personally, as an everyday person watching the news, I'm sick of watching and listening to Rush Limbaugh. But then, I don't forget what he said. Others do.

That is to say there's been an imprint on my brain for quite some time.

I especially like what Alter said about The New Deal and government spending with respect to the Republican's repeated argument against the fact that The New Deal and government spending actually got us out of The Great Depression.

Government spending didn't get us out of The Great Depression, even though unemployment went from 25% to 15% once the Deal's programs were put into action and put people to work. The New Deal didn't work. It was WWII that got us out of The Great Depression they say, which by the way was massive government spending.

It's such a ridiculous argument but they keep repeating it. This statement by Alter needs to be imprinted on people's brains even more so than any comments by Rush Limbaugh.

Where in the world is the other Senator from Minnesota

What ever happened to that Minnesota Senate race way back in November of 2008 between Republican incumbent Senator Norm Coleman, and the Democratic challenger, Al Franken? I went to Nate Silver to see if he had anything and this is what I found:

I largely abandoned this story when it exited the recount phase and entered the legalistic quagmire phase. But Eric Kleefeld hasn't over at TPM, and I suggest you go read his coverage. The latest? The Coleman team, having apparently realized that they'll have no shot to win a re-re-count, are now pushing for a re-vote.

It's pretty much all there from Kleefield, good, bad, indifferent and tedius.

Josh Marshall at TPM had a 'weird' reaction to some chatter regarding the Senate race up North.
I've been picking up word that Republicans on the Hill genuinely think Norm Coleman is going to get the results of the November elections tossed and have a revote. And if not genuinely, that they've all convinced themselves to say they believe it. As I told one friend who passed word on to me about this, the Coleman people must be smoking some powerful weed. Because nothing that has happened in the trial gives the remotest indication that anything like that will happen.
See now. Somebody still cares about this race. Everything is not about Rush Limbaugh all the time.

Well, maybe it is. I'm kind of tired of hearing about Rush myself. And more so, tired of thinking about him. Digg!

Michael Steele Defines His Job: ‘My Personal Opinion Doesn’t Matter In This’

It seems to me that the Mr. Steele is doing one of the things that Republicans hate the most, and used to attack Democrats in the past for, namely, talking out of both sides of the mouth.

I was with Rush before I was against him, or vice versa. I think I'm even confused.

God help him if members of the party realize it.

source: Think Progress

LAUER: I guess I’m asking you your personal opinion. Do you agree with Rush Limbaugh when he says that it’s common sense that as a conservative he wants the policies of Barack Obama to fail?

STEELE: Well, my personal opinion doesn’t matter in this. My job as the RNC chairman is to take into account all of the various views out there within our party and try to put together a strategy and a team that’s going to help us win elections. […]

LAUER: Mr. Steele, let me try it this way. There are many Republicans out there as well as Democrats who are unemployed right now. People are hurting across this country. Republicans like Democrats are losing their homes, they’re unable to send their kids to school. Do you think those Republicans want the policies of Barack Obama to fail right now?

Away from Rush? Eric Cantor on joining together

It's going to be interesting to see where the party factions fall. Rush L. is able to fire up the Republican masses.

If guys like Cantor, Michael Steele and Newt keep talking 'away from Rush' with respect to hoping President Obama fails, where will Rush's minions fall in line and who will they fall in line behind if their elected and former elected officials don't represent their viewpoints.

Will Rush actually be forced to run for something? Anything?

I suspect they will follow Rush. That line of taking money out of our pockets is a good one that always seems to work too. And after all, his followers are called 'ditto heads' after all.

And after that the elected and formers will fall in line behind Rush sews they won't lose their jobs.

I have never understood the tax raging entirely, especially during the years when their party is in power, managing the government on 'borrow and blow' budgeting. They don't seem to speak out as loudly or have tea parties when the party that they supported is borrowing to maintain it's own fiscal priority appetite which by the way, has brought us to where we are today.

They don't rage about low wages much either. They must all make a lot of money I guess so there is no need.

Maybe I do get it after all.
